Local Plan 2016-2036 Part 1: Planning Strategy

New Forest District Council has published the adobe icon Local Plan 2016-2036 Part 1: Planning Strategy [10Mb] for the New Forest District (outside the National Park) for formal consultation, together with its companion documents (Sustainability Appraisal, Habitats Regulations Assessment, Regulation 18 Consultation Summary and Infrastructure Delivery Plan), and the full supporting evidence base.

The submission Local Plan sets out strategic site allocations and strategic planning policies for the use, development or protection of land and buildings in the Plan Area for the Plan period 2016 to 2036.

Representations are invited on the submission Local Plan prior to its submission to the Secretary of State for independent examination in public. Please read the adobe icon Guidance Note [168kb] and adobe icon Statement of Representation Procedure [206kb] on how to make representations before responding. Representations must relate to the 'soundness' of the Plan and should be made using the docs icon Representation Form [142kb] provided, and will be considered at the Examination of the Local Plan. Please note, any comments made on the previous Initial Proposals (Regulation 18) consultation will not be considered at the Examination.

The consultation period commences at 10.00am on Friday 29 June 2018 and runs for a period of six weeks closing at midnight on Sunday 12 August 2018. Representations received after this deadline cannot be accepted.

The Submission Local Plan is available for public inspection at Appletree Court, Lyndhurst from Friday 29 June. From Friday 6 July copies will also be available to view at all of the Council's Information Offices, and at local libraries within the Plan Area, during their normal opening hours.

Timetable and next steps

Submission of the Local Plan for independent examination is expected to take place around the end of October 2018. Thereafter the Planning Inspectorate set the timetable. It is estimated that the examination hearing would take place early in 2019 and subject to the outcome of the examination, that the Local Plan would be formally adopted by the end of 2019.

If you are responding as an individual rather than a company or organisation, we will not publish your contact details (email/postal address and telephone numbers) or signatures online, however the original representations are available for public viewing at our Council office by prior appointment.

Respondent details and representations will be forwarded to the Inspector carrying out the examination of the Local Plan after the representation period has ended.

All representations and related documents will be held by New Forest District Council for a period of 12 months after the Local Plan is adopted.
