How Do I Apply?

Web contact form:  Contact UsEmail:  Sheltered housing          Tel:  023 8028 5436

This can be done in person (or someone else can do it for you, like family, a friend or social worker) by writing to or telephoning the Housing Needs Section on the number above.

If you are already on the Council's Housing register you can simply request a transfer form and indicate that you are interested in being considered for sheltered housing.

Each sheltered housing scheme has a brochure that explains to a prospective tenant, in full, the scheme and services available.

What Will Happen When I Apply?

Once you have been accepted onto our housing waiting list, your application will be placed into one of three different categories according to the extent of your housing problems. Consideration is given to factors such as medical conditions, overcrowding and lack of modern facilities. For further information see the Homesearch Housing Waiting List Factsheet 1.

Your application for housing will be given every consideration and an offer of sheltered housing will be made when possible.  This may not happen quickly and the Council's Community Alarm Service may bring peace of mind to you and your family in the mean time.

For more information about this service contact: 02380 871909 or 02380 866107
