Household glass collection calendars

Household glass calendars will be delivered with this year's council tax bills during March. Your collection day will stay the same (for example if you were a Yellow Tuesday collection last year, you will be a Yellow Tuesday collection this year).

What can I recycle in the black box?

You can recycle all glass bottles and jars:

What can't I recycle in the black box?

You can't recycle these items in your black box:

  • Drinking glasses
  • Glass kitchenware
  • Crockery
  • Light bulbs
  • Broken glass (please wrap and place in your black sack)

On collection day

Your box should be placed in clear view at the edge of your property by 7am on your collection day. Your collection crew will empty it and put it back.

All glass should be placed loose in your box; please do not put it in carrier bags or other boxes as they will not be taken.

If your crew cannot take the box because it contains incorrect items, they will leave a card explaining what needs to be removed. The incorrect items will need to be removed before the next collection.

Missed collections

If your box was in clear view at the edge of your property by 7am, and did not contain anything unsuitable, you can contact Customer Services within 72 hours on 023 8028 5000 to arrange a collection.

Replacement and extra boxes

If you would like an extra box, or your box has been lost or broken, you can collect one from one of our Information Offices or contact Customer Services.

Bank holidays

Glass collections will take place as normal over the Easter and summer bank holidays.

There may be changes to your collection day over the Christmas period; please refer to your collection calendar.

Bottle banks

Bottle banks are still available for residents to use in addition to the black box. You can use them for extra glass bottles and jars at busy times of the year, such as Christmas. We are making changes to the recycling banks,
