Renewable Energy

More people are considering opportunities to generate their own energy from natural sources especially in the current climate of increasing energy bills, and an awareness of climate change.

We recommend that you concentrate on making your home as energy efficient as possible before investing in renewable energy technology.

Feed in  tariff

This is a government incentive available for electricity generating technologies, which enables payments to be received (from energy suppliers) for generating electricity from approved renewable sources of energy, such as solar electricity (photovoltaics) and wind turbines. The rates of payment received depend on the renewable technology installed.  More information is available from the below links.

Renewable Heat Incentive

This is a separate government incentive available for heat generating renewable technologies, such as solar thermal panels and biomass boilers.  There are domestic and non-domestic options within the Renewable Heat Incentive.  more information is available from the links below.

Planning Permission

If you are considering installing a renewable energy system it is important to be aware whether or not you will need to apply for planning permission.  In some cases, the installation of renewable energy technologies for your home may be permitted development, so you do not need to submit an application.
