The majority of business financing organisations (see 'Financial Support') offer business support alongside the provision of monetary funds. For instance, successful applicants of the New Enterprise Allowance are offered a business mentor for up to 52 weeks to assist in the process of setting-up a new business.

Apprenticeship Co-Investment

In May 2017 the government brought in numerous changes surrounding apprenticeships and their funding. Non-levy paying employers (those with a wage bill of less than £3 million) will share the cost of training and assessing their apprentices with government - this is called 'co-investment'. These employers will pay 10% towards to the cost of apprenticeship training and government will pay the rest (90%), up to the funding band maximum.

Enhanced Capital Allowances (energy and water)

Tax deduction for the full cost of purchasing certain energy-saving and water-efficient equipment -

Enterprise Ventures Growth Fund

The Fund invests between £500,000 and £1.5million in the form of equity and equity-related funding to established profitable businesses to provide growth capital and fund mergers, acquisitions and management buy-outs -

Enterprise First

New Forest District Council have partnered up with Enterprise First to allow New Forest residents 90 minutes of free one-to-one business support at either the aspiring entrepreneurs place of work or other agreed location -

Helps companies in south-east England make the most of the European Single Market -

Enterprise M3 Growth Hub

Enterprise M3 is one of a network of Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) established by government around the UK. As part of each LEP is a growth hub which are designed to enable new or existing businesses to easily find the help they need.

Enterprise M3 offer multiple channels of communication to seek advice from their Business Support Advisers, and if your business works within one of EM3's priority or niche sectors a dedicated Growth Champion may be assigned as part of a tailored growth service to you.

WSX Enterprise has secured £1.45 million in funding to help to unemployed people from all walks of life progress from being out of work and into the future they want. Networking Groups

Often the best people to gain advice from are those that have experienced the decisions and situations you are encountering, and attending local networking groups can be a great place to come into contact with these type of people. Within New Forest District there is a host of local networking groups, each full of local entrepreneurs with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

To name a few - BNI Furlong (Brockenhurst), Forest Entrepreneurs (Lymington), Fore Business New Forest (Bramshaw Golf Club), Just Networking (Lyndhurst), New Biz (New Milton), Waterside Network Group (Butts Ash, Hythe). All offer a range of events from breakfasts to evening coffee meetings to expert workshop events.

New Forest Business Partnership

The New Forest Business Partnership exists to improve relations between local business and local government, promoting better business-to-business relationships, building a stronger economy and bringing greater prosperity to the local community -

New Forest Marque

Established in 2004 this scheme ensures that all produce labelled with the marque is from the New Forest. It's a way to develop and promote the production, processing and distribution of local produce from the New Forest.

Support for firms to bring operations to the UK, and for SME manufacturers to supply into reshored contract opportunities -



Small Employer Offer

This aims to create more job opportunities for disabled people and people with health conditions. The help on offer is varied and can include a payment of £500 to the small employer to manage any on-going needs. Solent Growth Hub

The other LEP that covers New Forest is Solent LEP, visit here to see the split in coverage area LEP Funding. Similar to EM3, Solent offers the ability to talk to a business support expert, and offers signposting to to external support organisations and funding -

Sustainable Routes

Sustainable Routes offers a grant of £1,000 to help businesses cut travel. The grant is match-funded, and available to all SMEs in the South East of England (not London) with a turnover of at least £75,000 -

Wheatsheaf Trust

A charity aimed at helping anyone who needs support, including those of any background or age struggling to enter the labour market. The trust offers local businesses across South Hampshire and the Isle of Wight salary free work placements, whereby a local business gives a local unemployed person the chance to prove themselves while Wheatsheaf pick up the wage -

Wheels to Work

Residents of New Forest aged between 16 to 25 can take advantage of this moped loan scheme enabling people to get to work, training, an apprenticeship or interview if they have no access to private or public transport -




X-Forces provide mentoring, training and funding for those in the armed forces community looking to start their own enterprise -
