Councillors donate Appletree Careline community alarms

Almost 50 Appletree Careline community alarm units have been donated by councillors as part of their annual grants. A community alarm is a two-way speech system linked to an emergency response centre. Customers wear a personal lightweight alarm button worn as a pendant or wristband to trigger the alarm if they need help.

Trained operators answer emergency calls quickly and professionally, ensuring that help is swiftly arranged. The alarm works in the home and garden, offering reassurance and peace of mind to family and friends.

Cllr Cleary, portfolio holder for community and housing, believes the service offered is an invaluable one and said, "Community alarms from our Appletree Careline service mean our customers can live independently, with peace of mind knowing that help is at hand at the touch of a button, around the clock."

Councillors have given some of their annual councillors' grant towards Appletree Careline units which means eligible customers will pay half the usual price - making the cost less than £2 a week (usually £3.55, from April 2017).

To be eligible for one of the reduced price units, customers need to be receiving full housing benefit or have their council tax paid in full and live in one of the following areas:

Hordle
